Weekend trip to Beacon

Yesterday we went on a day trip to the city of Beacon in the Hudson Valley. We love going there to visit shops, eat, drink, and walk along their Main Street. It seems every time we go, there’s a new store or restaurant.

It’s 1.5 hours by train from Grand Central Terminal with trains leaving hourly. Tickets are $35.50 round-trip off-peak and can be purchased at the station or via the TrainTime app.

This time I took my Ricoh GR IIIx and took some photos in the harsh winter sunlight. I mostly used Av and Tv modes and the Positive Film mode, which gives great saturated colors and sharpens contrasts.

In case you’re wondering about workflow, I use Ricoh’s Image Sync app to connect to the camera via Bluetooth after the fact and download all these images in XS-size, which helps not fill up iCloud. I then upload from Photos to WordPress using Jetpack on my phone. This has the added benefit of being able to mix phone photos with camera photos.

Ricoh does have the option to connect to your phone and use it to add location info, auto-download shots, and more, but it’s finicky and uses up battery very quickly, so I tend not to use it.

Nice little trip Kyle. Love the pictures, especially the waterfall! I was surprised there was snow on the ground there. The bagels look yummy, were those in Grand Central Terminal? Mom
