Earlier this month, Paola and I took a combined train and road trip from New York to Syracuse and to Montreal and back. We left New York City by train first thing in the morning on July 4th to meet my parents for holiday festivities. We spent the evening grilling on their porch, managed to see a few friends on Westcott Street.

After a restful long weekend, we borrowed one of my parents cars and drove from Syracuse up to Montreal to an Airbnb that we rented right in the heart of the Plateau, Montreal’s most Brooklyn-esque neighborhood. We had a great time, eating local delicacies, visiting the Botanical Garden for the first time, and checking out every single photography and art supply store in the city (or so it seemed).

On Friday, we rounded out our trip with a pre-departure visit to St-Viateur Bagel before getting on the road back to Syracuse. We caught up with a few more friends and visited a new bookstore, Doyle’s Books in Fayetteville, before heading back to New York on Sunday.
